TruePath PDF · Effective 2026-08-22
Your documents never leave your Mac. Everything the app does with your files happens locally, and we operate no servers of our own. From version 1.0.5 the app does send anonymous diagnostics — crash reports and a count of which file formats get opened — to help us fix bugs. That is on by default, it never includes your documents or their contents, and you can turn it off in Preferences → General.

The short version

TruePath PDF does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data, and it has no user accounts, no advertising, and no cross-app tracking. Everything you do with your documents happens on your Mac. The one thing that does leave your device is anonymous crash and usage diagnostics, described below — on by default, switchable off, and never containing your content.

Data we collect

Anonymous diagnostics, and nothing else. The app does not collect, store, or transmit your personal information or the contents of your documents to us or to any third party. Versions up to 1.0.4 collected nothing at all.

What the diagnostics contain:

Processor. This data is processed on our behalf by Google Firebase (Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics). See Google's Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms and Privacy and Security in Firebase.

Your control. Diagnostics are on by default. Turn them off at any time in Preferences → General → "Share anonymous diagnostics." Switching it off takes effect immediately and stops all further transmission.

Retention. Data is retained according to Google Firebase's default retention periods: Analytics data for up to 14 months, and Crashlytics crash reports for approximately 90 days, after which Firebase deletes or aggregates it.

How your documents are handled

All processing — opening, reading, annotating, organizing, filling forms, signing, redacting, compressing, encrypting, and printing PDFs — happens locally on your Mac. Your files and their contents are never uploaded to us or to any external server. Files you open or create stay where you put them on your own device, and the app runs inside Apple's App Sandbox, which limits its access to the files you explicitly choose.

Network access

All PDF work happens offline. The app uses the network in only these cases:

The link and Rate App actions hand off to Apple or to your browser, each governed by its own privacy policy, and we receive no personal information through them. Apart from the diagnostics above, the app sends none of your data to us and never transmits your documents or their contents.

Purchases and downloads

The app is sold and downloaded through the Apple App Store. Apple processes your purchase and may share limited, aggregate, non-identifying sales and download statistics with us as the developer. We never receive your name, email, payment details, or Apple ID. Apple's handling of your data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Permissions the app requests

To do its job, macOS may ask you to grant standard permissions such as access to files you select and the ability to print. These permissions are used only to perform the action you requested and do not result in any data being collected by us.

Children's privacy

The app is suitable for all ages. We collect no personal information from anyone, including children — the only data the app sends is the anonymous diagnostics described above, which contain no personal information and can be switched off in Preferences → General.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the "Effective" date above and post the new version at the same URL. Material changes will be reflected before they take effect.
